Kyo-no-oto Usugumo No.15 is a delicate, airy blue-grey ink inspired by thin clouds drifting across the sky. A beautifully understated shade, it brings a soft touch of colour to everyday writing, journalling, lettering and illustration.
The name Usugumo means "thin clouds" and is also the name of the 19th chapter of The Tale of Genji. The colour takes its inspiration from the light, spreading clouds associated with the name, giving it a calm and gentle character.
Part of the Kyo-no-oto range from TAG STATIONERY in Kyoto, these inks reinterpret traditional Japanese colours, drawing inspiration from Kyoto's long history of dyeing and colour-making. The range was developed in collaboration with the Kyoto Plant Dyeing Research Institute.
As a dye-based ink, Usugumo takes advantage of the natural bleeding characteristics of dyes to create subtle variations and gentle gradations as it spreads across the paper. As it is water-soluble, you can also use a water brush to soften or dilute the colour for different effects.
The ink can be used with fountain pens, dip pens, glass pens and brushes, making it a versatile choice for both writing and creative work.
